Just outside Johannesburg airport you’ll find the Emperors Palace Resort. Boasting 3 hotels ( Peermont D’Oreale Grande, Mondior, Metcourt and the Metcourt Suites) it has a range of accommodation to suit every taste.
Picked up from the airport by the courtesy shuttle bus, I stayed at The D’Oreale Grande and was greeted by lovely and welcoming staff.
A comfortable room had all the qualities you’d expect from a 5 star hotel – along with access to the elegant Aurelian restaurant, Octavias Sensorium Spa, evening cocktails at Neptunes pool bar or a short walk through the art-lined corridors to the majestic casino. (66 gaming tables, over 1700 slots and 7 different gaming experiences)
Beyond these sumptuous facilities lies a convention centre and a host of restaurants offering everything from international buffets, fine dining, contemporary, Asian, Mediterranean through to convenient fast food
The Emperors Palace certainly lived up to its claim to ‘having it all’.
We dined at Tribes an African Grill which was excellent – where else can you get a fillet steak and a nice chilled glass of Sauvignon blanc for £12
