The Travel Architect visits Desroches Island – The Seychelles

I am halfway through a 4 night stay at Desroches which is a 30 minute plane transfer from Mahe. It is 230 kms South of Mahe and is a coral island 6.4 kms long, surrounded by white sandy beaches and a protective reef, home to some of the best diving sites in The Seychelles.

Desroches was originally named Wood Island by the British because of its dense tree vegetation.

The island had a small population of around 100 and has luxury villas and suites which are separated by the airstrip which runs the whole width of the island.

Bicycles and kayaks are provided or if you want to have a lazy time you can call for a golf cart to get around.
