The Travel Architect, Stephen Gallacher and The Ryder Cup

I was honoured to share the experience of meeting Stephen Gallacher at Kingsfield Driving Range, Linlithgow today. The occasion was the appearance of the Ryder Cup from its vault in London for the afternoon and a golf clinic with Stephen.

Thanks from Fiona @ The Travel Architect

The Travel Architect offers a bespoke, personalised service which ensures clients always have the exact holiday they brief me on.

This week I’ve had some great feedback from returning clients and some beautiful gifts so “Thank You ” very much.

Beautiful flowers received today from clients who had a fantastic holiday in Bangkok and Koh Samui to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary.

I spent an hour looking at their holiday pics as I love Thailand so much !

First stop was The Banyan Tree in Bangkok and these were their comments :

Yes we were upgraded to a suite and this also entitled us to full use of club room facilities and spa. It also gave us complimentary massages, 90 minutes each, and free champagne on arrival for our anniversary. It is hard living like royalty but we will just have to get used to it. We loved Koh Samui and the Bophut beach resort and spa and had lots of anniversary treats on arrival.Thank you very much for organising everything for us and the card you sent out from Scotland. Your attention to detail was amazing.

Then I received a fantastic Jo Malone bag of goodies from a client for all my efforts  in organising a holiday to Venice and the Italian Lakes for her 50th birthday.

Curtain Bluff – Sports

Curtain Bluff has an extensive range of sports available. It is very famous for its tennis holidays which take place 4 times a year with a range of professional tennis players taking part.

It has a great gym with top class equipment along with Pilates and Yoga classes taking place on the aerobic deck.

There is also a half basketball court, squash court, shuffleboard, croquet and bocci.

On the watersports side James will take you out for an informative sail down the coast, snorkeling trips take place twice a day along with kayaking ,pedalos and hobi cat sailing.

Along with 2 beautiful beaches and a swimming pool you can chill out or partake in as many activities as you want !

Curtain Bluff – Antigua

A place like Curtain Bluff doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, careful growth and, most of all, personal devotion and it’s uniqueness sets it apart from other hotels on Antigua. The hotel has 70% repeat client business.
In the late 50s, Howard Hulford began looking for a perfect piece of land in the Caribbean on which to build a quiet sanctuary for his family and friends. He finally found it here on the south coast of Antigua and, in 1962, opened a 22-room resort, naming it after the bluff (rocky promontory) that separates its two beaches. Since then Curtain Bluff has grown, constantly improving, adding rooms and facilities to become the world-class resort it is today.
But the resort has never lost its original intimacy and charm. Howard lived here until his death in 2009, and his wife Chelle still lives in Bluff House, greeting guests like old friends and hosting the resort’s weekly cocktail party at her home. The other 211 members of staff, mostly from the village of Old Road just outside the resort’s gates, are an extended family and this is very evident when staying here.
The hotel has expanded over the years adding on suites and converting rooms to a total of 70 adding on a fantastic spa and improving the sports facilities which it is famous for.

Nelsons Dockyard and English Harbour – Antigua

Nelsons Dockyard is the only surviving Georgian naval dockyard in the world. It has a museum and several other restored buildings which stand as a memorial to Admiral Horatio Nelson and the Royal Navy who used it for many years during the Caribbean wars with the French, Dutch and Spanish during the 18th and 19th centuries.

It is part of the national park where you can go hiking through wooded valleys and past old fortifications.

It is also the home of the leading yacht charter companies and headquarters for the Antigua Sailing week.

Whilst I am here during low season there are still some beautiful yachts around in English and Falmouth harbours.

The Gunpowder Suites at The Admirals Inn – Antigua

My holiday in Antigua started off with 5 days at the Gunpowder Suites at the Admirals Inn at Nelsons Dockyard, English Harbour.

The 4 suites are situated 500 yards from the main inn with a fabulous infinity pool and restaurant / bar called Boom.

The views from the suites are fantastic of the harbour and dockyard area. We are here at the start of the low season and the yachts and boats are amazing during racing weeks.

The Travel Architect at La Manga Club

I have stayed in self catering town houses over the past 10 years at La Manga Club. However my visit this time is being spent at the 5 star Hotel Principe Felipe at the heart of the La Manga community.
La Manga Club is like a town in itself with the hotel with its 192 rooms to the studios, apartments and townhouses at Las Lomas beside the 2000 sq m Spa, fitness centre and fabulous indoor pool.
There are over 20 bars and restaurants to choose from along with a petrol station, supermarkets, banks and a selection of shops and boutiques.
La Manga Club is probably most famous for its 3 championship golf courses, pitch and putt and the new David Leadbetter Academy which opened last September.

There are also 28 tennis courts and a very busy tennis academy. Andre Begemann is here at the moment preparing for Roland Garros.
There is a professional football centre with 8 pitches and the Hibs team had just left the day before we arrived.

There are a wide range of sports academies for children and adults alike but if you just want to chill out that’s perfectly acceptable !
So why not try a holiday here ? –  La Manga Club has something for everyone and all ages
