The Travel Architect visits Raffles Le Royal Hotel in Phnom Penh

A luxury hotel fit for Royalty.
Raffles Hotel Le Royal has, for nearly a century, been the premier hotel in Phnom Penh, blessed with history, style and atmosphere. First established in 1929, it has had a diverse international clientele of entrepreneurs, writers, journalists, royalty and intrepid travelers.Graced through the years by legends including former U.S First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and various heads of states.

Located at the heart of this intoxicating city, directly across from the American embassy, this landmark luxury hotel offers easy access to the Central Market and Russian Market and makes an ideal base for sightseeing tours of Wat Phnom, the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and along the mythical Mekong.

We had a fantastic lunch and show round this legendary hotel with John Neutze the new Director of Sales and Marketing for Raffles in Cambodia – last time we had met was at a Thailand dinner in Edinburgh 2 years ago.

Unfortunately we didn’t have time to return later on in the day to sample a Femme Fatale ,the signature cocktail of the Elephant Bar, the centre of the city’s brilliant social scene.

The Travel Architect arrives in Cambodia

Arrived in Cambodia for the first time and having an amazing time !

Like Thailand, the food and people are fantastic – nothing is ever too much trouble especially along the river front area.

Phnom Penh, the capital city is a very busy city with great bars and restaurants.

The major attractions here for visitors are the Royal Palace,Silver Pagoda and a trip out to ” the killing fields ” which brings it’s own sense of perspective when these atrocities happened not so long ago.
