Evening meals for guests at Mateya can be in the main dining room, a private dinner in the amazing wine cellar or outside on the deck.
Hand made menus typify the level of detail that Mateya continually achieves.
There are many areas to sit down and relax with a drink, have high tea or your breakfast on the deck.
Our first game drive at Madikwe brought us some amazing sightings
A 45 minute flight from Johannesburg with Fedair brings you to the Madikwe airstrip where our ranger met us and 20 minutes later we were in our beautiful suite at Madikwe Hills which is set on a hilltop amongst boulders.
10 ultra luxurious suites complete with plunge pools, large outdoor decking areas are situated amongst the boulders.
Little Madikwe boasts a private 2 bedroomed private villa with its own vehicle and ranger as well as a personal butler to take care of your every need. Two additional suites can also be reserved to form a completely private camp for up to 8 people.
The next part of my South African adventure takes me on safari to Madikwe Hills Private Game Reserve which is in the malaria free Madikwe reserve.
Last time I was on safari was in an aircraft for 2 and 6. This time we’re on a larger aircraft which is taking 12 of us.
I’m delighted to announce that I have made the short list of the annual SATOA Travel Awards which will be held in London on 18th September 2014.
These awards are designed to reward companies and/or individuals for the quality of their products and/or their valuable input in the destinations promoted by SATOA (Africa and Indian Ocean).
I was thrilled to have been nominated last month and really delighted to share the news today that I had been short listed in the category of best UK retail agent as up against the big boys in travel.
South Africa is one of my favourite destinations and I look forward to visiting again later on this year.
Here are some pics of last years holiday – amazing memories and a must visit destination !
Expert ranger Moses and tracker Jonas from Kings Camp, Timbavati set up morning coffee in the middle of the bush.
Glad the elephants didn’t smell the fresh coffee and shortbread biscuits – especially as I ‘walked’ back to camp !!
One night in already and I’m loving the attention to detail at Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve.
The views from all villas are breathtaking – you can laze in your sala or have a dip in your plunge pool whilst looking out to the hillsides and bush.
It’s fairly easy to spot zebra and impala in the distance and binoculars make it so much clearer.

Ever thought about visiting Africa ?
There are so many amazing experiences in the 2nd largest continent in the world.
I have seen an increase in enquiries this month to South Africa in particular, and part of this is due to the increased coverage on television at the moment.
The BBC series on AFRICA and Charley Boormans adventures are riveting viewing.
